How to play

Christmas at Hamilton Castle is a mystery game of puzzles, clues and deduction. It's perfect for anyone who love murder mysteries and escape room puzzles.  

Enjoy it as a 12-day Advent Calendar, using the twine and pegs to hang the envelopes on the wall. Or you can play the game in one evening – the choice is yours. 

Follow these steps to unravel the mystery:

Step into the story – Join the party inside their Highland castle as you unseal 12 mysterious envelopes. You'll need to uncover the facts of the case, including the victim, motive and murderer.

Explore the clues – Spread the clues out in front of you and inspect each vintage item – from a cocktail recipe and diary entries to photographs and curious objects. 

Solve the mystery – Test your wits with escape-room-style puzzles, codes and hidden clues. Delve into the characters and story as you make your final deductions…

Don't be shy about using the hints! They will help guide you through the game. There are several layers of hints, so you can get help without giving the game away.

The box contains 12 mini envelopes packed with clues, and twine and pegs are provided for easy hanging. You will need a pencil and an internet connection, though most of the game is screen-free. You can start solving puzzles from envelope 2 onwards. 

Box size: A5 (238 x 173 x 20mm), not inclusive of outer packaging. Materials include paper, card, glassine, wood, metal, plastic, cotton. The kit is mostly recyclable.
